  • Farming System Analysis – focus on rice based farming systems in Vietnam and South East Asia
  • Food security – safe vegetable production and consumer preferences for organic vegetable production – Vietnam and South East Asia
  • Climate change adaptation and mitigation – dealing with water scarcity and salt water intrusion in rice production, alternate wetting and drying rice irrigation technologies, Vietnam
  • Land use change with especial focus on agricultural land abandonment – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  • Economic Valuation of Ecosystem Services – Financing schemes for Ecosystem based Adaptation interventions – Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES). Mara Basin, Kenya.
  • Disaster Risk Management – dealing with vulnerability to extrem events in coastal areas of Bangladesh and Indonesia
  • Design and management of irrigation systems – pressurized irrigation systems in Egypt, flood irrigation in rice systems in Vietnam.
